For those of you who are new to "breaks", here is a summary of how it works..... There are various setups depending on the sport and the items in the break series. Our main focus is on autographed, full-size NFL helmets. Break series' will consist of 5 or more helmets. Most of our breaks will be done in division format, so there will be 8 spots available for each break. Players can select one or more spots. After all spots are taken, each spot will be randomly assigned one of the 8 NFL divisions. The breaks will then be conducted live on our Facebook page. During each break, one numbered ball will be randomly selected from a group of numbered balls. Each ball will match up with pre-numbered boxes filled with helmets or break credits. For whichever ball is selected, we will select the box with the matching number. We will then "break" that box open on a live video feed. If the helmet/break credit that comes out of the box is from a team in the division you were randomly assigned.... you win the helmet/credit!!! For example.... if you have a spot that was randomly assigned the NFC North and then the box we break open has a Brian Urlacher autographed helmet inside, you win the helmet because the
Chicago Bears are part of the NFC North!
This is just an example. Some breaks may have more or less spots available. But regardless of the setup, each spot will be assigned at least one team that will represent you in the break. It doesn't matter if you have one team or ten, if you have the team of the helmet/jersey revealed in the break, it's yours! There will be a winner in every break.
More details will be available on our Facebook page or you can use the "Contact" link to send us any questions you may have.
As with any other hobby, there are several terms and phrases you will hear that may be confusing to someone new to sports breaks. Here are some basics to help you keep up with what is going on.......
"BREAK" - A break is one game in a series of games where players can win a piece of memorabilia. Random selection determines which box in the series will be available in that break. We will then "break"open the box to reveal the winner!
"RAZZ" - A razz is a game similar to a break, with the main differences being that it is a stand alone game and you know the exact item or items that you are playing for. Razz winners are typically decided by using a randomizer (such as random.org) and the person in the top spot after the random is the winner. Although other methods of deciding a winner could be used and would be explained when selling spots in the razz.
"SPOT" - A spot is the entry in a single break that you select. You will select an available number. That is now your spot in the break. After all spots in a break have been selected, they are then assigned a team (or teams) randomly (either using random.org or through a live drawing). The number of spots available in each break will depend on the format used for that break. Example....... NFL Division breaks would have 8 spots, AFC/NFC breaks would have 16 spots and Team breaks would have 32 spots.
"MINI" - A mini is a game where you have a chance to win a spot or multiple spots in a break.
"HEADLINER(s)" - The headliner is the big name piece of sports memorabilia that is part of a break series. There will usually be multiple headliners in a break series. You do not know which box or break game a headliner will be revealed, but they are guaranteed to be somewhere in the series of breaks.
"Break Credit" - Break credits are just that....... credit you receive toward a spot in future breaks. Break credit will sometimes accompany helmets in a box or sometimes a box will contain only break credit.
"COA" - COA stands for certificate of authenticity. All items that are involved with our breaks have a COA sticker affixed to the item. Some come with matching cards and even photos of the player during the signing session. We only deal with memorabilia from the leading authentication companies.
"COIN or COINING" - Coin or coining is the practice of including a sign or something with your name and date in any pic of a piece of memorabilia that you are trying to trade or sell to prove that you actually have the item in your possession. This is required by many people before they will take part in any buy/sell/trade transaction.
"VOUCH" - During B/S/T transactions, some members may request "vouches" from other members. This is simply a request for other members to speak up on behalf of either of the parties involved to confirm any experience they have had with them in past deals. We are a community and we hope to build trust with all members, but it is completely acceptable (and encouraged) to ask for a vouch during any deal that you are making with someone you are not familiar with. We also ask for members to provide honest feedback to help others with a smooth transaction.
